Public Engagement Session - October 13

The new official plan and land use bylaw will identify priorities for how land uses are managed in the municipality, including what land uses are permitted, where they can go, and the standards those uses have to meet. The official plan sets out policies for land use and describes how the community will develop over time, including economic, physical, social, and environmental goals.

The process of developing the official plan and bylaw began over the summer and will unfold over the coming months. The consulting team is currently in the information gathering stage and is looking to the public to share ideas on the community’s priorities on what to protect and what to promote in terms of land uses.

In addition to engagement through the Plan West River website (https://planrmwr.ca), including mapping, stories, and surveys, the public is invited to attend a public session at the Afton Community Centre on October 13th at 7:00 pm for a discussion on the planning process and specific land use topics. There will be additional opportunities for the public to participate throughout the project period.

In order to ensure that all public health measures can be respected, please pre-register by contacting the municipality at admin@westriverpe.ca or by phone at 902-675-7000, no later than noon on October 8, 2021.
