What is the Afton Imagination After School Program?
Our licensed after school program provides a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children to learn, play, and grow after the school day.
What ages of children can attend?
We welcome school-aged children (ages 5–12).
Where is the program located?
The program is held at the Afton Community Centre.
What are the program hours?
Our program runs after school until 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Is care available on school holidays, PD days, or snow days?
Not yet! We are working on this as a next step, but stay tuned.
How do I register my child?
Families can contact us directly to request an enrollment package. Completed forms can be returned in person or by email.
Is there a waitlist if the program is full?
Yes. If spaces are filled, your child will be placed on our waitlist and families will be contacted as soon as a spot becomes available.
Is there a deposit or registration fee?
Yes, a deposit is required to confirm your child’s space. Deposits can be paid by cash, cheque, or e-transfer to kids@westriverpe.ca.
What are the program fees?
Our rates are designed to be affordable for families. A full fee schedule is available in the enrollment package.

Payments can be made in person (cash or cheque) or by e-transfer to kids@westriverpe.ca
Are subsidies or financial assistance available?
Yes. Families may qualify for government childcare subsidies. Please contact us for guidance.
What does a typical afternoon look like?
Each day includes a snack, outdoor play, creative activities, and opportunities for homework or quiet time.
What types of activities are offered?
We offer a mix of physical activity, arts and crafts, STEM challenges, games, and free play to keep children engaged.
Are snacks provided?
Yes, a nutritious snack is provided daily. Families will receive a sample snack menu.
Who supervises the children?
Our caring staff are trained, screened, and dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment.
What is the staff-to-child ratio?
We follow provincial guidelines for staffing ratios to ensure each child receives proper attention and supervision.
Are staff trained in First Aid/CPR?
Yes, all staff maintain valid First Aid and CPR certification.
How is student safety ensured?
Children must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian or authorized pickup person. We also maintain emergency procedures for fire, medical, or weather-related situations.
How do parents communicate with staff?
You can reach staff by email, phone, or in person at pick-up. We also send updates and reminders by email.
Will I be notified if my child is absent from the program?
Yes, we will contact families if a child is unexpectedly absent. Parents are encouraged to notify us in advance of planned absences.
How are emergencies handled?
Our team follows a detailed emergency plan and will notify parents immediately if an urgent situation arises.
What is your policy on late pick-up?
Children must be picked up by 5:30 PM. Late pick-up fees apply if this policy is not followed.
What happens if my child is sick?
If your child is ill, we ask that they stay home until they are well. If a child becomes sick during the program, parents will be contacted to pick them up.
Can my child bring personal items or electronics?
We ask that children leave toys and electronics at home unless it is a special event day.
